Spiritual Gifts: Prophetic, Priestly & Kingly

As we concluded our “All In” series about discovering our spiritual gifts, someone asked me about the categories we used to break down spiritual gifts, so I’d like to post them for you below.  If you have not taken our Spiritual Gifts Discovery Assessment, you can do so by clicking here.  It’s a simple tool to BEGIN (it doesn’t have all the answers) to identify and develop your own spiritual gifts.

Perhaps these groupings below will help you see how different gifts work together.  Each group reflect part of the nature & role of Jesus Christ himself.  Spiritual gifts are an extension of Jesus’ ministry through us.

Prophetic Gifts (understanding & communicating truth):

  • Evangelism (Eph. 4:11)
  • Teaching (1 Cor. 12:29)
  • Knowledge (1 Cor. 12:8)
  • Discernment (1 Cor. 12:10)
  • Prophecy (Eph. 4:11, 1 Cor. 12:10)

Priestly Gifts (identifying and supplying basic needs):

  • Encouragement (Rom. 12:8)
  • Helping (1 Cor. 12:28)
  • Shepherding (1 Cor. 12:28)
  • Serving (Rom. 12:7)
  • Giving (Rom. 12:8)
  • Mercy (Rom. 12:8)

Kingly Gifts (understanding direction and group needs):

  • Apostles (Eph. 4:11; 1 Cor. 12:28)
  • Leadership (Rom. 12:8)
  • Administration (1 Cor. 12:28)
  • Wisdom (1 Cor. 12:8)
  • Faith (1 Cor. 12:9)

You will find full definitions of all these gifts in the results of your own Spiritual Gifts Assessment.
